WHERE BUSINESSES GO TO GROW

3 Online Marketing Resolutions You Should Have in 2018

A new year is upon us, and most people use the change in the calendar to start fresh, write out some plans, and start building momentum by working toward those plans. Likewise, business owners can take this opportunity to decide what they want to accomplish over the next twelve months, and outline just how they intend to get it all done. If you haven’t yet defined any goals for your business this year, fear not – here are some pursuits that can benefit any small enterprise in 2018, and that will help you strengthen and grow your business through the end of the year and beyond.

1. Be boldly creative. The theme for most resolutions, both personal and professional, is to get out of a rut by trying new approaches. Saying goodbye to your comfort zone is hard, but as a business owner you already know that it’s the only way forward for true growth. That’s not to say that you should fix something that isn’t broken, but most of us can’t help but go on auto-pilot after a while, if we feel like things are “good enough” and that it’s easier just to keep coasting. Remaining stagnant may work in the short term, but eventually you will regret it. This year you can pave a better way forward by making some creative but calculated moves that freshen up your brand strategy, while being careful not to cross the line into recklessness.

2. Take your social media game to the next level. A lot of businesses made the mistake a few years ago of assuming that social media was a fad on its way out. By now, it’s clear not only that social media is here to stay, but also that it has become part of the very fabric of the internet. In terms of business marketing, social media is so much more than just self-promotion or hard selling – it’s a powerful tool for creating a community around your business, establishing approachability, and building loyalty. Those things, in turn, translate into customers who will come back to you again and again. So if you’ve been treating the maintenance of your social accounts as an afterthought, it’s time to move them to the front burner and really get the ball rolling. Remember, you don’t have to do it all yourself; social media managers exist for a reason, and they’re good at what they do.

3. Make it personal. The internet has created a new dynamic of how we relate to each other, and how businesses relate to their customers. Gone are the days when advertising and marketing cast the widest net possible in the hopes of catching the most fish. Today’s internet users are intelligent enough to know that the tech is there for all their online experiences to be tailored toward their specific needs and interests. If your business is not using targeted campaigns and marketing, you’re missing out on an opportunity to find the customers who could benefit the most from your products or services. If they don’t get what they want from you, they’ll get it from your competitor, so don’t get left behind.

January is already in full swing, but it’s not too late to hop on the train toward a better, stronger business presence this year.  It’s time to get excited about what you and your business can accomplish in 2018!
