WHERE BUSINESSES GO TO GROW

6 Ways to Bring YouTube into Your Marketing Strategy

You might think that you have nothing to say about your business that would warrant creating video content. Maybe photos of your products or text descriptions of your services have served you well so far, and you don’t see what video could possibly add to the bigger picture. If you’ve never considered YouTube as a marketing tool before, here are six ways to incorporate it into your existing marketing strategy.

1. Tutorials. Instructional videos are very popular on YouTube. Even tutorials that are only loosely related to your company’s focus can help bring in the right kind of audience. When you create a video tutorial, explain things clearly and make sure people can see exactly what you’re doing in the video.

2. Hints and tips. Know any little industry tricks that the average person wouldn’t know? Share them in a video! People like learning trade secrets, especially ones they can then share with their friends.

3. Vlogging. Using video for blogging is a great way to give that human face to your business, which can help attract more customers. Vlogs can be like regular business blog posts, or you can tackle more casual topics like showing your customers around your office, showing off holiday decorations, and so forth.

4. Playlists. In addition to storing your own content, you can use your YouTube account to create playlists of relevant content from other users. This is a great way to network with other relevant YouTube accounts, and it can also help get your videos on the playlists of others.

5. Responses. YouTube has a great feature where you can respond to a video with another video. Has someone created a video relevant to your company’s focus? Create a video response and let them know what you think of their video, whether you agree or disagree with their viewpoints, and so forth. This can help establish you as an expert in your field.

6. Answering customer questions. This is sort of like a video version of a FAQ, where people write in with specific questions and you answer them in a video. This is particularly useful if the answer to a question would benefit from a visual demonstration. You can ask for people to send in their questions on Facebook or via a blog post.

Have you ever tried using video to help drive your online marketing campaign? What was the response like?
