SEO isn’t just putting your keywords and industry phrases on a page. It’s not just building a bunch of links and writing a bunch of content. Consider how the page interacts with the rest of the website.

Here are 7 things you may want to look into, and related resources linked for more information for each point below:
  1. Content strategy: have you considered developing content that is of interest to millennials (1980-2000) gen Xers (1965-1979), baby boomers (1946-1964) and mature audiences?
  2. Visualizing a site map: this tells search engines which pages of a site you want crawled as well as functions as the priority or hierarchy of site content and information on when the page was last updated.
  3. Site architecture and silos: the way you organize your site and group related pages together, structurally or through linking, can have an effect on your overall SEO and rankings.
  4. Relationship-based link building: do you know bloggers? Website designers? Employees of online marketing companies? Reach out to them and ask. They know lots of websites and online resources! This is a great way to start link building.
  5. International SEO: do you have potential traffic coming from additional countries? Do you capitalize on the languages needed?
  6. How to properly write redirects: make sure that the “A permanent redirection for this resource” is selected in the checkboxes of the “Home Directory” tab within the Context Menu.
  7. Video SEO: do you have videos? Do you have a video sitemap? Are all videos easy to browse?
All of these ideas interact with SEO, not just the one thing. Remember, understanding does not happen instantly or without failure. So give yourself some time to learn new things and credit when you have successes.
