What to Look For in Your Twitter Analytics

Analytics gives us key insights that help drive the evolution of our products and services. It shows exactly how people use the service or product on each platform, website and social media account. Twitter has become one of the most valuable tools on the web today. Its highly public form that immediately expands your reach to a targeted audience is the primarily reason for its success … and the reason I’m writing this blog.

Twitter is a great way to help you achieve your marketing goals and drive website clicks or conversions. So, let’s try to understand these clicks and “retweets” and why twitter stats are relevant and important.

These metrics matter, though how much they matter will still depend on your specific social goals.

  • Follower count, as well as how quickly that count is growing. Any growth is great!
  • Number of page views or visits.
  • Number of clicks, replies, mentions, shares, retweets, or reblogs, as all of them help to increase your social reach.
  • How engaged fans are with your brand: measured by number of comments, interactions, or mentions.
Every company’s Twitter following is different, and what may work for one brand may not work for another. However, Twitter provides us all with some insight into what types of content perform well.

Tip: adding a hashtag, photo or video to tweets makes them much more attractive to followers … with photos having the largest impact on retweets.

Each tweet is an opportunity to show your voice, brand, and strengthen a relationship with your followers. Increase your tweet impressions (with retweets, comments, engagements, mentions “@”, etc.) and you will likely increase your new followers. There is a direct correlation, as long as you are posting interesting and relevant content on a regular basis.
