Content Creation Tips: How to Outdo the Competition

bloggingDo you remember the days when creating content for your website or blog was relatively simple? You didn’t have to worry about what the search engines thought. You didn’t have to concern yourself with too many competitors trying to outdo you.

While those may be considered the “good old days,” things have changed quite a bit over the years. Now, if you are not creating killer content you are going to find your web presence squashed by the competition.

If you are seeking a way to outdo your competitors, here are three tips that will put you on the right path:

1. Use better headlines. Let’s face it: some people don’t make it past the title before deciding if they are going to read an article. If your headline is boring you are missing the boat.

Experiment with a variety of titles, tracking which ones generate the most attention. Along with this, see what is working for others and follow in their footsteps.

2. Images really are important. While this has nothing to do with the actual words you write, images can make or break any piece of content.

With the right selection, you can capture the attention of readers while making your article more interesting. Your goal is to keep people on your site for as long as possible. With the proper use of images you have a better chance of making this happen.

Note: stock photography is okay if you don’t have any other option, but try to be more creative than this. For example, take your own pictures. You know these will be 100 percent unique.

3. Don’t be afraid to share some link love. For one reason or the next, many people are afraid to link out to other sites. While you don’t want to go overboard, there is nothing wrong with sharing useful information via your content. If linking to another source will add value to your article, by all means this is something you should do.
